They're all positive and happy videos that has great content we all can learn from. This is one of my highlights of the week, so trust, the excitement I get.
I feel like I’m the one doing the work with how detailed she includes! I know I can come back to one of these videos in the future to know exactly how to do something
Hi MaCenna! Something I think you should consider is a shower curtain. You could keep it open, hang it all the way to the ceiling, use thick canvas/linen curtains pushed to the right side, and just order an extra long shower curtain liner. I think that would help the proportion since the tub is off center (curtains pushed to the far right) and will also help with the vibes when you’re in the bath! Steam stays in, you can feel cozy, etc. I have an open bath like this and it really can feel cold (temperature cold and ambiance cold) - and I’m in FL! Wishing you all the best!
I love how when she posted a poll a couple months ago asking us which room makeover we're most excited for the guest bathroom was the one that had the least votes, but now we're here and IT LOOKS SO GOOD! OBSESSED
For anyone who is wanting to lay their own penny tile: - DO get spacers. Even professionals suck at laying penny tile and you DO need spacers even though it comes on netting. Just spend the extra $5. It'll be worth it - DO stagger the sheets so you can hide the inevitable wider grout lines from the above - DO use a trim piece (i.e. Schluter straight edge) to finish your edges
@Yazzy Bananas for me personally I think the claw foot tub is overpowered by all the penny tile and the double window especially since she painted the window with the dark paint to match the alcove. She’s not going to install a shower ring from the ceiling in order to use the shower wand. She indicated her guests would just sit in the tub and spray off. How unusual is that? Another individual indicated that you don’t install the tiles in a straight line that they should be staggered so the grout lines are not as visible between them. She didn’t do that either. It’s a live and learn process. In the video she said the tile wasn’t suppose to get wet! How’s that?
Thanks for this! You can see alot of little mistakes in the few shots that she shows. Especially above the water faucet. I'm a perfectionist and I know she is too so it was bothering the heck out of me. It would definitely make a for a great reno video for the future.
@Donna Crosley Thibault I doubt it, to be honest! I think it's the rustic look she's going for. Also, her entire job is making KZclip reno/DIY videos so it's not a big deal if she has to redo this in a few years. More opportunity to monetize videos (😅). But the average homeowner is going to do it only once, so they should have the information to do it right.
Oooooh the scenes you shot at the end of this gave me CHILLS! The way the sunlight hits those tiles above that tub-STUNNING! I love how you were able to save up for that toilet with the window panes too-I’m beyond impressed you managed to handle that on your own, windows look SO intimidating! I can see why you loved that toilet too! Who knew a toilet could look so charming?! Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Repent to Jesus Christ ““Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25 NIV h
THIS IS SO SO EXCITING!!! must feel so rewarding after all the insane amount of work you put in.. it’s truly an incredible journey to watch. thanks for inspiring & sharing your talent ♥️
Loving every single minute of this video. Thanks for sharing the progress of your beautiful home. 🙏🏻🤗 Ps: I was in awe when I saw the bathtub faucet 😍😍😍😍
Repent to Jesus Christ ““Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25 NIV
This house is so amazing. The detail work in the trim is so gorgeous especially the Tudor brown!! One question, Have you thought about adding a trim piece to transition the penny tile to the drywall? The trim has such detail I think it would really help finish the room off.
Repent to Jesus Christ ““Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25 NIV
I did my first tile install and learned the hard way. It’s much easier doing the grout in small sections. It’s not nearly as hard to wash off. 😊 Cheese clothe will also be your friend in taken the final film off.
That looks beautiful! I feel the penny tile needs some kind of transition to the floor and walls, it seems unfinished the way it is now. Some kind of pencil tile edge, or maybe even something made of brass, just to hide the grouted edge and finish it off a bit more? Maybe you already have a plan for this? Either way, I commend you for your hard work! It's coming along beautifully!
This is gonna be a weird request, but I need to see the water running in that beautiful bathroom! I mean the tub, the vanity faucet and the toilet! You know, like actually flushing the toilet! 😂 it’s wonderful to see your plans come to life! This is so fun and you’re such a badass for doing it all yourself!
This is looking SOO beautiful! I can’t help but feel nervous about the lack of water proofing 😅 I know it’s not a shower but I’m just imagining there will still be a lot of water spillage and stuff. Is cement good enough between the tile and subfloor? We were sooo over the top with our waterproofing when we renovated our bathroom because mold is my worst nightmare (after living with it for years in previous rentals). I highly recommend Schluter materials. I’m sure you’ve done your research and everything though. Congrats on the amazing progress in your beautiful bathroom! 🥺❤️
@Freckled & Speckled My point is always check is state and local (municipalities) codes first because "In the US, for showers, the only code requirement for waterproofing is mold resistant drywall with tile over the top.." is not accurate because many areas are much more specific and restrictive. I quoted IBC IRC because all US states reference these codes or modify them in their own State req. as min. Specifically we don't want people buying "mold resistant drywall" and tiling over it thinking that's all they need to do to be compliant without performing to: ASTM C1178, ASTM C1288 or ISO 8336, Cat C, ASTM C1325, as quoted in IBC Sections 2509.2, and 1210.3 (area within). As for MaCenna's videos I'd advise are for entertainment only. I don't know exactly which jurisdiction this project is based, but it appears she's building without permits or inspections.
@Walter Hobocienski hahaha I hope everyone is making their shower at least 6 feet tall… but my point still remains (especially considering her tile goes to the ceiling): she’s technically got all the waterproofing she needs.
@Freckled & Speckled That's not really true - there are many loc. codes with much stricter req. IBC (Sections 2509.2 and 1210.3) For tub/showers or showers must extend to a height of not less than 6 feet (1829 mm) above the floor level of the room or 70 inches (1778 mm) above the drain, whichever is greater - Water-resistant gypsum board may be used as a backing board for tile installed beyond the required tub/shower or shower enclosure walls.
In the US, for showers, the only code requirement for waterproofing is mold resistant drywall with tile over the top. So technically, she’s got all the waterproofing she needs on the walls and floors with the tile. The wood trim is what I would be concerned about… we put pvc boards as the trim on the window that is half in our shower .
Love it!!!!!! FYI, grout and mortar contain lye, so wear plastic gloves when handling, otherwise the skin on her hands will dry out and flake off. Speaking from experience here, it's terrible. Also, hearing loss is both permanent and cumulative! So wear hearing protection with that saw!
It's coming together so beautifully, I'm just surprised there's no proper shower over the bath as well. The bath faucet is stunning though I love it and the contrast of the tile with the brown, very classy!
@JMK I don't think so. That spot where there could be a shower she is just putting in a wardrobe thing for towels and such. Personally, I love baths over showers so I would be happy to use this.
When you get the beautiful artwork hung for this bathroom, it will be the sweetest, prettiest bathroom around! When this house is finished, I definitely believe This Old House will be calling you up to come do a photo shoot!
Looks truly amazing!!! I’m curious why you didn’t use a schluter strip on the edges of the tile by the toilet-are you going to trim it out pretty some other way? So excited to see your progress!!
Hello MaCenna! When can we expect the “All of the Things” merch? I would definitely buy a t shirt or recycled sweater. Also, you give me so much motivation to do things all on my own in my fixer upper. Girl Power! 💪🏼👊🏼
You are "AWESOME", not afraid of anything. I have done many renovations but you blow me away and also you encourage me to push myself into the scary parts of renovation. I feel myself getting more excited as you get closer to the end. I have throughly enjoyed this journey with you. YOU GO GIRL! I
I couldn't be happier for you! I'm way too emotionally invested in a stranger's home; I legit started crying when you got the tub faucet put in place. So proud of you and all you've accomplished thus far and I can't wait for the next video!
You've been saying it finally feels like it's a home because of the walls but this for me is when as a viewer I can feel it. It's so amazing to finally start seeing your vision.
MaCenna you're a star in every sense of the word. Watching you is so inspiring that maybe we mere humans can actually get up and tackle something beyond brushing our teeth and getting up to go to work. We could be building houses lol Honestly you are a legend, can't stress it enough!! Your future children are soooo lucky to have a mother like you!! 🌟
Love how it is all coming around! Looking at it, I would penny tile behind toilet all the way to the bump out at the sink area, but not all the way up, just up to the edge of the bump out. Easier to clean pee off tiles than off wall. Love the colour paltte!
She did show a project of brass trim a video or two ago that will finish off the tiles edge. It's such a busy tile being so small that is is plenty for the space.
As someone who raised 3 boys, you're going to need to waterproof around and under the tub, sink, and (especially) the toilet! You will NOT regret this!! 😁
So adorable!!! This process seemed very painstaking but the results were wonderfully satisfying!!! Congrats on executing countless details and bringing crezendo to the finale!!! I know you are not done but this segment was well worth the wait!!!
Love the penny tile with the brown grout, and love the claw foot tub! Your window trim is really beautiful and fits the esthetic of your cottage. You are so talented and I anxiously await every video and vlog! Can’t wait to see the next one!
Love the penny tile, especially as it goes to the ceiling. Forgive me if you’ve already said, but what are you doing for the rest of the floor? Hope you’re continuing the penny tile. Love the grout color too.
You’re such an inspiration x I admire your persistence and how you never do things without testing them first, it takes more time to do test cuts and stripes but it pays off x the bathroom looks great, I aspire to have your work ethics one day x
MaCenna, you can buy one of those foam boogie boards at a sporting goods store and put it under you when you’re on the ground. I do that when gardening and I’ve found it’s much better than just using knee pads.
You truly amaze me! I look so forward to these each week and I’m always in awe of your curiosity to learn these trades, your HARD work and can-do, upbeat attitude. You are an inspiration!
You are such an amazing inspiration! I love seeing a WOMAN tackle these projects! I am so glad you have brought us along on this journey! I am loving every minute! You're the best MaCenna!
Just as I was thinking, “how is she doing that without knee pads!?” You stood up in the dark and had knee pads on. 😍 everything has come out so lovely! As always, I’m so impressed with your sense of adventure to try it all!!!! Great Job!
I feel so invested in this renovation. I'm so happy things are turning out how she imagined. I can't wait until the guest cottages are done. I call first dibs!
I just bought that same Penny tile to put in my new shower Niche! I am so excited for you and your tile job looks AWESOME. I think the shape of Penny tile makes it harder to clean after grouting., I have someone else doing mine, it better be as good as yours!! We are all so excited for you and Romeo! Big hugs!!
I told my husband tonight: “MaCenna posted a new video so I’m legally bound to take a bath tonight.” (I always watch YT in the bath) Sooooo freakin’ STOKED for all of this! You are so good at all the things!! 😭
Love the tile great job! Now here’s the opinion. I feel the walls (not the brown) should be one of the colours from the tile or is it already and the lighting makes it look like a different colour?
Her attention to detail is impeccable like wow! As a designer I wish contractors cared as much as MaCenna does with all the projects / tasks etc she takes on. You’re amazing!
This is stunning, but I am a little confused… I thought windows had to be ultra weather proofed, and I see lots of cracks of light around the windows… isn’t this a problem long term?
Ugh! I’m so proud of you! Hard to believe I can be so proud and invested in someone’s renovation that I’ve never met before, but I feel like I’ve known you for years! Yay 👏 👏👏
I AM LIVING for this bathroom/whole reno! it has come together so beautifully and it actually makes me emotional. MaCenna is 100% influencing my personal style and I'm here for it. With love from Australia!! x
Macenna, I have to say that I have been watching your videos for a while now, and seeing your beautiful home come together brings tears to my eyes. I am truely happy for you, you deserve all the best things in life and your home will be that much more special when you look around at everything you built with your own hands! Just beautiful!! ❤️❤️❤️
Maccena Hola!!! Que precioso 💕❤️💕 lo ame y más amo todo cuanto haces mujer trabajadora 🙏👍🙌🙋✨✨ espero más vídeos.... Saludos desde Culiacán Sinaloa México 🌵🇲🇽
I absolutely love everything you do and this bathroom is amazing!! But just wanted to let you know the thumbnail says Episode 3 and the video title says Episode 4.. So I thought I missed one for a second 😂 Love love love your style and designs! 😍😍😍
i am obsessed with this video. the casual trial and error, how it’s not a big deal if something goes wrong you’ll just “fix it” like you said, casually saying “i can do it” while moving a 300 pound bathtub. definitely channeling all of this energy!! i’m so impressed by the tiling job. i would’ve gotten overwhelmed and frustrated by simply doing the floor let alone all of the walls too
Watching your videos is something I look forward too every week! I’ve watched your videos since before you brought the house and have been invested in watching all the progress you have made, I literally feel like a proud mum watching you. The guest bathroom looks amazing already and cannot wait for the rest of the transformations!
You amaze me with every video. You are one determined young woman who says I can do it and gets it done. I see your vision and this bathroom will be stunning. ❤
Your guest bathroom is looking gorgeous, seriously gorgeous and I’m so happy for you and Romeo, it really was a hard job , but you took your time.. bye planning and sticking to your vision, good job and well done.
It is absolutely gorgeous, well done you keep surprising me with your abilities and your can do attitude really inspiring. Congratulations you are creating a peaceful retreat, full of joy and love.
I know it's a bit late to ask this, but before putting the tub in, did you ensure that the flooring underneath could hold a lot of weight? As someone who has a cast iron claw foot tub if not supported enough the floor can begin to sag over time, due to the weight of the tub + water + person in said tub.
@Kristina Kiss she’s so detail-oriented but there are so many things that can only be learned through experience. I have no doubt she’ll get there, but this house is bound to have a few DIY errors 😉
@Wendy She only did waterproof sealer (RedGuard) on the new concrete floors-this bathroom is part of the old house which is constructed from tongue and groove subfloor over a crawlspace. She should have applied it here before installing tile as best practice but it's not required since it's not technically a shower pan or wall.
I cannot click fast enough when a new video comes up! That bathroom is stunning and I’m so excited for everything else. That sneak peek you gave of the chevron design tile 😍😍😍 My mind is blown that you went from VP Fashion Industry to being on KZclip - I’ve watched your videos for so long when you DIY’ed stuff and challenged Lone Fox! You are such an inspiration. I’ve always thought “I can’t do that” to “I want to do that”. Thank you ❤️😘🇨🇦
MaCenna, these videos make my heart so HAPPY! I’m so thankful that you allow us to go on this incredible journey with you. The work you do is beautiful and you put your whole heart into it and it shows. Everything stops when you have a new renovation video out that how enthralled I am in your renovation videos. Lol Hugs from Eastern Tennessee. ♥️
Can someone explain how it’s possible that I get so excited over Macenna’s videos! It’s literally the only thing I look forward each the week😂
@XO, MaCenna Hi MaCenna, Great Video! Do you mind sharing where you got the new toilet from???
Missed you last night.
Sam here. Can't get enough. 🤗👌🏻
I thought this too! It's never fun to be in the open staring at the toilet! :-)
oh that would be so pretty
Oooh yes! That and some beautiful plants maybe
I love how when she posted a poll a couple months ago asking us which room makeover we're most excited for the guest bathroom was the one that had the least votes, but now we're here and IT LOOKS SO GOOD! OBSESSED
🥰🥰🥰
For anyone who is wanting to lay their own penny tile:
- DO get spacers. Even professionals suck at laying penny tile and you DO need spacers even though it comes on netting. Just spend the extra $5. It'll be worth it
- DO stagger the sheets so you can hide the inevitable wider grout lines from the above
- DO use a trim piece (i.e. Schluter straight edge) to finish your edges
@Donna Crosley Thibault You mount first the tile edge and start laying tile from it.
I chose to do a wood trim edge because it steps down to our wooden floor but the Schluter ones are really nice too!
My thinking exactly.
I didn’t expect the tile will look that gorgeous! With the window. Just gorgeous
I was worried about timing to remove all that grout. So much surface to clean.
I did my first tile install and learned the hard way. It’s much easier doing the grout in small sections. It’s not nearly as hard to wash off. 😊 Cheese clothe will also be your friend in taken the final film off.

yes and maybe something for the corners to hide how the tile from one wall to other doesn't line up (it would drive me crazy)
@Delsie Waters A little busy for me, but I believe it 's super popular.
definitely agreed, either similar to the vanity countertop or a brass trim would just make it look that much more professional!
I thought she was doing some sort of brass edging or edge tike as well.
Same, wonder if a schluter edge would work?
This is gonna be a weird request, but I need to see the water running in that beautiful bathroom! I mean the tub, the vanity faucet and the toilet! Exactly what I was thinking!! I’m a design and waterproofing is essential! I hope she reads your comment before attempting the other bathroom!!

@Renee Rangihuna - I think so, unless I am mistaken.
@JMK in the guest bathroom?
She has a completely seperate shower area in the bathroom.
@JC definitely! I guess it's an aesthetic decision rather than a practical one, maybe they'll put one in later on!
“If it doesn’t work- I’m going to fix it” what a great attitude!

i think she was joking about the merch but who knows what’ll happen ☺️
Looks amazing but did I miss something? Where is the waterproofing?
I love this idea!
yes yes yessss!

Looks lovely. One question: how about waterproofing the tub area?
I’m so grateful you are a perfectionist! It helps my heart! Some other DIY KZcliprs are not and i die sometimes 🙈😂

Love the penny tile, especially as it goes to the ceiling. Forgive me if you’ve already said, but what are you doing for the rest of the floor? Hope you’re continuing the penny tile. Love the grout color too.
Iagree!! Penny tile over the intire floor 😊😊
The tiling work looks so beautiful, vintage. I'm getting cozy vibes, yet expensive & sophisticated!

Just as I was thinking, “how is she doing that without knee pads!?” You stood up in the dark and had knee pads on. 😍 everything has come out so lovely! As always, I’m so impressed with your sense of adventure to try it all!!!! Great Job!
This episode is absolutely lovely! The bathroom looks serene and beautiful and curated. Great work! Your moms moment with the bathtub was adorable.
Hi!!! I love seeing everything coming together! Been with you the whole ride!
That clawfoot tub is giving me LIFE. Having one has been my DREAM since I can remember! Love watching this cottage come to be. 🤍
Looks beautiful! Enjoyed and always love the fact that you challenge yourself to diy. Amazing!!
Also for grout I HIGHLY recommend a clean bucket and a dirty bucket of water. Makes cleaning the grout off the surface of the tiles a lot easier.
The netting is typically referred to “mesh”. :)
Figured I’d share since you taught me “plinth” 😅
I love it! So beautiful!! I look forward to the progress every week😁
I feel your excitement. It is always so rewarding to see the space coming together. Great job.
You can also get a thinner grouting tool that is around 2” width to get in narrower spaces. :)
Big hugs!!
I am SO INSPIRED every time I watch your videos! You're doing such a good job!
I told my husband tonight: “MaCenna posted a new video so I’m legally bound to take a bath tonight.” (I always watch YT in the bath)
Sooooo freakin’ STOKED for all of this! You are so good at all the things!! 😭
Love the tile great job! Now here’s the opinion. I feel the walls (not the brown) should be one of the colours from the tile or is it already and the lighting makes it look like a different colour?
I need more videos! Can't wait to see the whole house completed :D
SO DANG GORGEOUS! I love it but more than that I love how much she loves it ❤ No one works harder than this woman!
Her attention to detail is impeccable like wow! As a designer I wish contractors cared as much as MaCenna does with all the projects / tasks etc she takes on. You’re amazing!
Fabulous! Well done! I was panicking a bit when you were grouting thinking it would dry out on you but it worked out and looks amazing!
This bathroom reveal is my Met Gala. I’ve been waiting MONTHS 😍
HAHAH SAME!
Yay 👏 👏👏
I have never seen anyone work as hard as you do - and it's just beautiful!!
You’re excitement is so infectious! What a beautiful home you will have ❤️
I absolutely love everything you do and this bathroom is amazing!!
I love how the bath faucet contrasts with the penny tile/grout/paint....GORGEOUS!!!!
This looks so good! 😍 Wish I could come over just for a bath 😂 love your content, so exciting seeing it come together now! ❤️
Looks so amazing girl! I tiled our kitchen last summer and I know the (physical) pain of it😂 you’re s beast!!
I am soooooooo excited to see the actual progress on the House!! Can't even imagine how excited you are!! So happy for you!!
It is absolutely gorgeous, well done you keep surprising me with your abilities and your can do attitude really inspiring. Congratulations you are creating a peaceful retreat, full of joy and love.
I am so in love with your bathroom. Can't wait till it is all done!!!!!!!!!
You are so killing it with that house. I look forward to each and every episode. So stunning what you all do by yourself!
Just love all of this,. it looks so amazing. Cant wait to see the whole thing done one day :).
I know it's a bit late to ask this, but before putting the tub in, did you ensure that the flooring underneath could hold a lot of weight? As someone who has a cast iron claw foot tub if not supported enough the floor can begin to sag over time, due to the weight of the tub + water + person in said tub.
We 100% reinforced it underneath and in the kitchen for the granite
@Kristina Kiss she’s so detail-oriented but there are so many things that can only be learned through experience. I have no doubt she’ll get there, but this house is bound to have a few DIY errors 😉
@Marisa Lunde Im glad you noticed it as well, for all the research she did I'm surprised she missed that
@Wendy She only did waterproof sealer (RedGuard) on the new concrete floors-this bathroom is part of the old house which is constructed from tongue and groove subfloor over a crawlspace. She should have applied it here before installing tile as best practice but it's not required since it's not technically a shower pan or wall.
@Ally Bee - Yes there is no subfloor to collapse, it is all concrete in the extension so that tub is not going anywhere.
Love the look of the bathroom. Can’t wait to see the finished product. 😁
I love the faces you make when you're excited about something.
You help me smile, thank you!
this looks so good!!! can't wait to see the final ep of this first renovation project!
love watching your designs come to life! 😍
OMG it’s all coming together!! All these finishes were the perfect choice! I can’t get over the Tudor brown window trim.
It's sooo beautiful Macenna, I want to stay here! Can't wait to see the rest of the renovations 🥰
This bathroom feels so elegant! Can’t wait to see it finished!!
YES! This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for!!!!! WERE SO PROUD OF YOU MACENNA!!!
It's going to be gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished result 🙌
LIVING for this part of the restoration!!! I've been here since you bought the house and boy oh boy has this house changed so much into a home.
I love your energy and amazing attitude! This bathroom is so gorgeous!
Getting so excited to see these beautiful finishes! Stunning!
OMG this looks AMAZING!!! Can't wait to see the final episode of this makeover. You are a rockstar!!!
Watching the renovation progression is so exciting! 😁😁
Ohhhhh this was so much work! So worth it! BEAUTIFUL 😍❣
Thank you ❤️😘🇨🇦
I live watching your progress 😍 it's inspiring und helping to stay patient while waiting for our own house to be build
MaCenna, it's beautiful! So fun to see all your ideas come to life together!
