I’m happy to be following you in learning about Livy. I’ve only read The Twelve Caesars and Herodotus and a few plays from ancient literature. I was interested in the parts you read aloud. I had the same feeling of looking in a mirror when I read Journal of the Plague Year by Defoe. Deb

Matthew I hope you’re keeping well and I hope the new job is Going splendidly. I’m halfway through the book and I know that I planned to read this alongside you but you know yourself that you get sidetracked by other books on the shelf. Hope the fundraising is going well for Spain and I’m glad that you now have a girlfriend. Take care buddy

I had read Livy in Russian for three times and it's my favorite book ever still. I want to read it on English, but I confused by the abundance of different translations. Many of them written in not a modern English, and non of the translations covers all books that we have. Russian translation is awesome because it's a fundamental scientific work made by many professionals, written in modern language and covers literally everything which survives time.
Can you recommend me which English translations to read?

Very interesting! I don’t know much about Rome. It’s nice you’re doing these videos. I’m sure I’ll learn from them 😊

I'm reading Herodotus histories myself, it's a great ancient history book... If you want to read more about Rome I recommend Aucustus by John Williams.

That was exactly my experience. Rome is like a theme park for classical history nerds, but it’s all real!

If you shop around it’s not that expensive in March time Matthew... And at that time of year it’s a good time to go just before tourist season so not super busy.. I don’t know what the conversation rate to dollars is, but I paid £400 for my flight their and back from England with accommodation 40min walk from the Vatican City... I’d love to see you do a vlog their 😊
