Totally- was reading comments by haters and want to say to the armchair metalheads- YOU go do what they've done, bringing metal mainstream and putting out absolute scores of orbital bangers like ONE and then you can criticize. Otherwise, put your headphones back in and STFU.
Metallica is one of those bands that humanity couldn't have done without. Master of Puppets is a masterpiece that blew my mind back then (I still have it on tape hehe, gonna also get it on CD eventually) but I have to say that the badassery is still going strong in this tune right here. 40 years on, wow! 🤘

This one guy I know of said Lars couldn't play drums good anymore, but he was clearly joking. He was going the whole damn time. And James still sounds great, and even better than he did in the 90s. Metallica is a thrash band first and foremost before anything else, and this song is exactly why. Brilliant.
I grew up with "Kill 'em all", "Ride the lightning", "Master of Puppets" and "...And justice for all". The black album is considered Metallica's artistic watershed on a more commercial line, and we can feel it!
My parents didn't like anything heavy, even Scorpions was too heavy. But I have to give credit to my dad he at least once got me a Metallica cd for Christmas that I asked for (that was Ride the Lighting).
I grew up with Metallica, the first album I heard was Master Of Puppets and I fell in love immediately ...To be honest I've never heard a bad album by Metallica and seeing them release another new album has brought a nostalgic tear to my eyes ...Thank you so much Metallica not only for the kickarse music on every album but also for your loyalty to your fans!
Wow does this instantly take me back to my youth getting amped up with Kill em All, Motorhead, King Diamond, et. all. I am so pumped for this album to come out like I haven't been in a long time. If the rest of the songs slap like this one 🤤

every time james hetfield says "lux aeterna" in the chorus it sounds like he's doing that one technique where a vocalist replicates the sound of hitting two notes at the same time. idk what it's called but it's the same thing freddie mercury did, either way this man is a whole different level of talented
How did I go from Gould's interpretation of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier series to Metallica? But wow! I can't stop listening to this. Really want to hear it live!!!
I will always love the first 4 albums, when the pre-gain was at 7. since the black album it's been at 6. there is a new Thrash band coming out every week that is hungry for fans and making damn good Metal. and you guys have been practicing and playing almost daily for over 7 years, and this is the best you can do??? the tone and feel just seems so weak...but again, I will always love the first 4 albums where the passion and drive were strong. for anyone interested in real Thrash, checkout, New Wave of Old School Thrash Metal, its guaranteed to please, with new bands every week. \m/
I'll tell you they never let me down I've been listening to these gentlemen since I was 15 years old and I'm 55 and they never let it down you guys sound great Brothers
@Perpetual Motion Hardwired was just.... Metal. Moth into the flame, spit out the bone, atlas rise, hardwired, the whole album is just heavy and fast and listens real nice. I didnt like death magnetic because it was missing that. Like they were trying too hard just to make songs that can be played on the radio. I listened to the whole album when it came out, and honestly the only song I can remember is Day that didnt Come. And the solo is pretty epic, but it just wasnt the heaviness that I needed, like albums like Ride the lightning, Master of Puppets, or Justice for All.
@Burpo Stockings What is it about DM that you don't particularly like? I absolutely loathed StAnger and still do to this day. Their 80's stuff will always reign supreme and Ive never gotten tired of it. TBA is a strong record but one that I have gotten tired of. It has lost me over the years. Didn't like Load and Reload in the beginning but they grew on me as I got a little older. I found Death Magnetic to have a couple decent tracks but I barely listen to that one since it came out. I can't put my finger on what it is but it just doesn't grab me. The production seems a lot to be desired too. Maybe I should give Hard Wired a listen because after DM I totally lost interest and am back to just playing their first 4 and Garage like always. This new song is actually catchy as hell and reminiscent of their better days. If only they released something along the lines of this in 03' as their comeback from the 90's I think it would have been received really well.
This literally has guitar hero dad vibes and I love it. The whole music video looks like a futuristic guitar hero and they are absolutely shredding it on god mode 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@epoxy1710 I'm just asking every person I last replied to because any of the reasons within the past day would be horrible reasons for a report to be sent, and I know how offended people can get these days. I'm not saying you are btw. I just joke up an hour ago so if I sounded rude, that was unintentional so it's probably my post-waking-up mood. 🙁
Holy crap, Metallica still has some fire in them! I am very surprised to hear that James' voice is still as good as it is. My only complaint is the mixing feels a bit...I dunno, thin. Good to see Metallica still putting out solid material, though.
I'm not sure if musicians like these (extremely successful around the world for decades) are conscious enough of the way their music has helped, relieved, wrapped the lives of so many people through the years. I (as a modest 46 years old guy from the Canary Islands, Spain) have to tell them, frankly, thank you, guys. Gracias, Metallica.
As a 56 year old from Sacramento, CA and a fan since Kill 'em All, these guys have been a huge part of who I am. Met them once back on the Lightening tour when they opened for Y&T. We all connected with these dudes because they were just like us......and we all wanted to be part of it. Most of played guitar and loved the underground music making it's way into our rooms. They even skated and rode BMX.
They definitely know the effect their music has on people, just think after every concert people come up to them and tell them how their music ha affected them and helped them through stuff
Absolutely brilliant new song 💥 totally unexpected - from out of nowhere! 💫 Clearly a tip of the hat to Lemmy - now in lux æterna with Jimmy Hendrix, Joey and the rest of the Ramones, David Bowie, Bon Scott and all the rest of 'em rock and metal gods. And it sounds like James has listened to some Danko Jones recently.
3:30. . .getting old, can't keep the pace up. . .but the pace is akin to the old pace of the 80's. It was an amazing mix of that metal jive of the 80's and what they do today. Love it.
Did they finally find their initial "Metallica Vibe" again? that thing that's somehow got lost since the black album... I really hope the whole album sounds like this. Man this song is awesome!
Okay I take it back. This is the 5th or 6th time of listening to this song and it is true ass kicking metallica. I just needed a few lessons for to take full effect but this is absolutely Metallica and I love it can't wait for the new album
This is the first Metallica song I've dug hard since death magnetic. This is classic thrash right here. They're doing what brought them to the dance, and I love it
WTF!...Great! I love it! Remind me to "Garage Days". And even if these were "only" cover versions - it is the sound of Metallica, the way of playing and the great voice of James Hetfield that are style-defining and decisive here. And even if some probably see it differently: I also celebrated the "Load" and "Re-Load", on these albums are some of the best songs ever written in this field, both in terms of songwriting and vocals.
Reminds me of the speed and style from Ride the Lightning and Kill em All, but its cleaned up and more mature sound/lyrics for mainstream and radio. I dig it.
@Joshua Peck I personally believe that if a band's music is good enough and they believe in it, there's no need to hype it up. The songs should speak for themselves. Besides, we're the ones paying sometimes ridiculous ticket prices to hear the songs at concerts, so it's our opinion that matters.
How can people say it sounds like other bands. Metallica own this genre they can pull off any beat and melody in this genre and still sound like metallica.
It is always a special occasion when Metallica releases new music. No matter how I personally think about the album, it's like, Metallica album release date should be some international holiday celebrated around the globe!
I don't know about other people, but a new Metallica album coming out makes me forget everything that is going on in and has been going on in the world for the last couple of years. I love Metallica!!
totally! i feel the same way! about to lose all hope and HEEEEEERE comes Metallica! got my tickets for the show in august already. something to live for!
@joeschmoe8320 Lars just did an interview and said they fucked up. Can't blame them for wanting to get paid for their own property though. I think stranger things showed them that they can reach out to new fans through sharing their music.
Maybe they’ve been working on releasing these new songs for a while because it has been a few years, but I think they timed the release of the album just right. This coincides perfectly with their recent resurgence after being featured in Stranger Things. They still sound amazing and the songs are great so I don’t see why they wouldn’t keep releasing new material. Aerosmith is still around and celebrating 50 years together (on and off 😉).
Wow, this is awesome. Never expected Metallica sounds like this nowadays. Playing the classics really made them very good. Drank from the right fountain.

@Ben Wrigley "lyrics" or 'the lyrics'. I sincerely doubt these lyrics have any meaning to anyone. They are pretty much word soup based around a single phrase.
@CoD**GABO**YT i just analyzed the song in wavelab slowed down. Will make a YT vid when I get time. Listening with Beyer 770 headphones. The first line is definitely a MA sound. When compared to the second line also slowed down, which is a clear LU sound. There's a clear and obvious difference to both lines. Sorry, but I am right. The lyrics are Max Aeterna, Lux Aeterna. Thanks for playing.
As someone that grew up on the first 5 albums and learned every song on guitar form the binge and purge box set when I was a teenager, this reminds me of the Metallica I know and love.
In my opinion this song could fit well in an Annihator album, it seems to come straight out of King of the Kill. The riff is very Jeff Water-ish, and i mean this as a compliment.
@James Ga Ga and Cyrus are Fans who just happen to also be Pop Stars. EVERY Metal/Hard Rock Band should be Grateful for the Collabs, because it brings new fans to the Genre. EVERY BAND wants to make money so they can continue doing what they love!
i feel so happy! i love this song! it's so great and im so happy to see more music dropped from you guys, you guys are an amazing band. Metallica forever 🤘
Hi^^ ....Sorry to say that, but Metallica...I mean the REAL Metallica is dead...they are just old businessmen today, who use their name to sell their music...just listen to the old albums and compare
@patrick ignore that guy youre totally right, the lyrics are amazing. They mean so much more than people realize. It's like 20yo james is back writing lyrics with all the energy in the world
It's amazing to me seeing a band that emerged in the 80s still going strong.
@Redneck Zombie I have to agree. Everything after the black album is not the same as the early stuff
"strong"
@Peter Velocity for sure, so true!
Totally- was reading comments by haters and want to say to the armchair metalheads- YOU go do what they've done, bringing metal mainstream and putting out absolute scores of orbital bangers like ONE and then you can criticize. Otherwise, put your headphones back in and STFU.
@Redneck Zombie they are beyond recognition
been hearing this song a lot on rock radio. Really digging it.
Metallica is one of those bands that humanity couldn't have done without. A 90s kid here, I grew up with both my parents raising me on Metallica and I'm SO grateful they raised me right.
I grew up with "Kill 'em all", "Ride the lightning", "Master of Puppets" and "...And justice for all". The black album is considered Metallica's artistic watershed on a more commercial line, and we can feel it!
this is so good but you must hear “Glory” or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🤘🪖
My parents didn't like anything heavy, even Scorpions was too heavy. But I have to give credit to my dad he at least once got me a Metallica cd for Christmas that I asked for (that was Ride the Lighting).
Born in 88 and been a metallica fan since I was born grew up with black album, load and reload and st anger
your parents are dead-set legends!
Metallica came back with an absolute banger!
nah...
@Kopanski i became a hater after Load. The black album was at least decent for the most part.
@Richard Murray Lemmy is with us 🤘
@Sony Soldier So its St Anger for you. The haters stars with the Black album. You ain't a hater, may be just jealous.
@Sony Soldier st anger ain't that bad in IMO
Wow does this instantly take me back to my youth getting amped up with Kill em All, Motorhead, King Diamond, et. all. I am so pumped for this album to come out like I haven't been in a long time. If the rest of the songs slap like this one 🤤
VENOM as well.
Haven't really been much of a Metallica fan since the And Justice days, but this song has won me back!
this is a pure late 70s early 80s hard hairy manly crunchy metal song , I love it, lots of motorhead influence
Holy shit it IS “Stand up and Shout” but with more double bass drum. I knew it sounded familiar
@Red Hed Nightmare it is definetly diamond head inspired, the lyric "lightning the nation" is a reference to the diamond head song
I hear Motorhead,...but still Metallica.
Ya felt like a teen again.
I hear Ronnie James Dio singing this. Has a "Stand Up and Shout" vibe.
Cool song BTW

I like how this sounds like something that could've been on Kill Em' All, strong '82-'83 feel to it in many places
Hit the lights and this are almost identical
Metallica still hitting hard 🤘🤘🤘 haven't felt this excited with their songs in a while 🖤
every time james hetfield says "lux aeterna" in the chorus it sounds like he's doing that one technique where a vocalist replicates the sound of hitting two notes at the same time. idk what it's called but it's the same thing freddie mercury did, either way this man is a whole different level of talented
Now that’s a whole new meaning of “We won’t quit, won’t stop, because we’re Metallica!”
this is so good but you must hear “Glory” or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🤘🪖
@Steve S That's fine. They can be lame too.
@David Porter 13 million people disagree with you.
@Brian Lacapra Cause your Metallica!!
@Rigamorte And why is it fake?
I'm a 14 year old hardcore metallica fan and it makes me really happy to see metallica announce a new song
🤘🤘
I grew up with Metallica, now I’m a grown aged men and i’m still grewing up with them !
How did I go from Gould's interpretation of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier series to Metallica? But wow! I can't stop listening to this. Really want to hear it live!!!
I can’t wait to see these guys live! This song is amazing!

Love the Motorhead inspired riffs from Lars this time. He channelled Phil Taylor really well
🤘 This whole song rips man. Some of Lars’ best drumming to date. 🔥
Yeah in my opinion he his the base for this song to work, everything else just follows it.
He said “full speed or nothing” way back on Motorbreath from the 1st album
& now again like 40 years later, pretty crazy
I'll tell you they never let me down I've been listening to these gentlemen since I was 15 years old and I'm 55 and they never let it down you guys sound great Brothers

57 here and it still can crush
Been listening since I was 8. I'm now 43. 🤘🏻
I love it!! I feel Metallica show us with this lyrics that they have evolved. Still badass but instead of darkness now there is light and hope!
They came out swinging. This is the core of Metallica. It always has been
Metallica eterno, não morrerá nunca.🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
This literally has guitar hero dad vibes and I love it. The whole music video looks like a futuristic guitar hero and they are absolutely shredding it on god mode 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Metallica is a once in a lifetime musical force of nature. Killer song!
Hetfield é incansavel.
se continuar assim , o Metallica ficara ativo infinitamente.
melhor p os fas e quem gosta do som da Banda.
LOVE THIS!!KILLER RIFFS VOCAL AND DRUMS NICE JOB FELLA CAN'T WAIT TILL APRIL
Best Metallica track in 35 years
Absolutely unreal, love this. Can't wait for the album to drop 🤘🤘
This sounds like a song that could have been on the garage days album. Honestly, probably the best song I've heard from them in the last 20+ years.
@Tom Cooks Agreed. Weak AF.
this is so good but you must hear “Glory” or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🤘🪖
Metallove nebe - Děkujeme Metallica🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
@epoxy1710 I'm just asking every person I last replied to because any of the reasons within the past day would be horrible reasons for a report to be sent, and I know how offended people can get these days. I'm not saying you are btw.
I just joke up an hour ago so if I sounded rude, that was unintentional so it's probably my post-waking-up mood. 🙁
@ARandomInternetUser haha no. Im not a soy boy.
Ya hacía falta nueva música de estos grandes!!
This song is awesome. Glad you guys are coming out with yet more hits for the world to enjoy.
It’s so impressive that James voice is still holding up. Honestly, it’s gotten better with age
Holy crap, Metallica still has some fire in them! I am very surprised to hear that James' voice is still as good as it is. My only complaint is the mixing feels a bit...I dunno, thin. Good to see Metallica still putting out solid material, though.

wow james still just as great as ever, great song . i hear it on the radio and run to turn it up
The more I hear this song, the more BADASS! It gets. F'n Beautiful!
For me it's the opposite.

I wish it was longer like 6 -7 min I listen 3 times in a row sometimes.
couldn't agree with you more!! loving it!
@rednax agreed. Metallica never disappoints!
Did they finally find their initial "Metallica Vibe" again? that thing that's somehow got lost since the black album...
I really hope the whole album sounds like this. Man this song is awesome!
They were my first concert. Still the best.
Okay I take it back. This is the 5th or 6th time of listening to this song and it is true ass kicking metallica. I just needed a few lessons for to take full effect but this is absolutely Metallica and I love it can't wait for the new album
This album is going to blow us away.
I just wish it was heavier, that's all.
Sounds way better than anything on the last two albums
Screaming Suicide is soooo good.
Yep by the sounds of it.
Agreed
This is the first Metallica song I've dug hard since death magnetic. This is classic thrash right here. They're doing what brought them to the dance, and I love it
@FriedrichHerschel One of the worst ever.
@EPOXY Just "Unforgiven III" alone has more then enough soul in it alone to prove you wrong.
@EPOXY What's it like being all bitter and wrong?
@Red Rick Wrong? Wtf, I know what songs people like or not when it plays. Boring song as everything after St.Anger, no soul.
@EPOXY What's it like being all bitter and wrong?
Never been much of a Metallica fan but this slaps, got some speed and bite to it
WTF!...Great! I love it! Remind me to "Garage Days". And even if these were "only" cover versions - it is the sound of Metallica, the way of playing and the great voice of James Hetfield that are style-defining and decisive here.

Such a great way to start a new year!!! METALLICA Amazing as ALWAYS ❤️
I love the way they do this stuff. No announcement, no hyping, no nothing. Just dropping the song and going on. Long live Metallica!
this is so good but you must hear “Glory” or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🤘🪖
only MetallicA and Eminem can drop #1 bangers unannounced
@Joshua Peck I personally believe that if a band's music is good enough and they believe in it, there's no need to hype it up. The songs should speak for themselves. Besides, we're the ones paying sometimes ridiculous ticket prices to hear the songs at concerts, so it's our opinion that matters.

Who needs hype when you're Metallica. lol

My heart has been beating for this Bands 35 Years , and my Gift to my Birthday 🎉 was a Tattoo my right forearm: Nothing else matters 🤘🏻❤️
They are my teachers of this concept: you CAN’T retire from being yourself. ❤ Rock on Metallica - you ARE the real deal
I don't know about other people, but a new Metallica album coming out makes me forget everything that is going on in and has been going on in the world for the last couple of years. I love Metallica!!

MY SONGS ARE WAY BETTER THAN METALLICA
I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Metallica album since they sued those kids who started Napster. Now, here they are years later on KZclip.
metallica is great tho there load and reload albums sucked but i think and justice for all will always be their best album
im blown awayyy!!! What a badass song!!! Forever one of my favorite bands!
Tim Saccenti did a great job on these visuals, wow!
Ese si es el estilo de Metallica de los 80 exelente banda la mejor del mundo siempre toquen así uffff
Maybe they’ve been working on releasing these new songs for a while because it has been a few years, but I think they timed the release of the album just right. Просто прекрасно, ожидаю весь альбом.
excuse me, i've not been quite up-to-date with what Metallica has done recently, what do you mean by "playing the classics"?
This is my favorite band. I love listening to their musical evolution. I'm glad that they continue to try new things but stay within their wheelhouse.
Love you guys, always have. This is great! Thank you! \m/
This is an amazing song well done I’ve listened to it about 7 times
Catchy tune, Im really looking forward to this album!

@Damn Deal Done the official lyric video says Lux lmao
@Ben Wrigley "lyrics" or 'the lyrics'. I sincerely doubt these lyrics have any meaning to anyone. They are pretty much word soup based around a single phrase.
@Damn Deal Done Actually, lyrics mean a great deal to a lot of people after the past year. For all sorts of reasons. Don't be so dismissive.👻
@Damn Deal Done I do hear an ma sound in it good luck
@CoD**GABO**YT i just analyzed the song in wavelab slowed down. Will make a YT vid when I get time. Listening with Beyer 770 headphones. The first line is definitely a MA sound. When compared to the second line also slowed down, which is a clear LU sound. There's a clear and obvious difference to both lines. Sorry, but I am right. The lyrics are Max Aeterna, Lux Aeterna. Thanks for playing.
Can't get enough of this song!
They still kick ass! 🤘🏻
Great song and can't wait for the album!
OMG i love it... bring on the new album!
Still rock as hard as ever at 60 years of age and put the youth music these days to shame!
As someone that grew up on the first 5 albums and learned every song on guitar form the binge and purge box set when I was a teenager, this reminds me of the Metallica I know and love.
@Pshh Uhhh Have to agree.
@Zexion Ienzocheesy lyrics tho
In my opinion this song could fit well in an Annihator album, it seems to come straight out of King of the Kill.
The riff is very Jeff Water-ish, and i mean this as a compliment.
@Pshh Uhhh cry more
@Pshh Uhhh it has thrash influences like the first 4
It is incredible that a Band that has achieved everything, has the ability to define themselves new !
Straight from the sky ❤️❤️ Metallica The best band in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Metallica always delivers. Wow.
This is the exact reason Metallica is my favorite band
Fast-paced Metalllica. As always, another energetic song from the first note to the last beat.. well done, boys.
Isto é Metállica aí sim mostraram porque são os Reis do Trash Heavy e como se faz🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏👏
I can't get enough of this song.... It keeps buzzing in my head !!
Full speed or nothing..... !!!!!
Holly shit, you guys still rock after all these years. I must have been 14 when kill em all came out. Own every album.
From my point of view, Instrumentally it has something of Kill 'Em All. Excellent lyrics and content.
The year is 2022, and Metallica is still keeping its quality. The guys are still on fire! What a song!
@Sarcastic_redbeard don’t upset the Metallica fans they’ll cry . Bunch of posers have been for many decades now .
🤣🤣🤣 metallica was metal till the shi**y black album came out. After that is when they got all their pop wannabe metal fans.
@James Ga Ga and Cyrus are Fans who just happen to also be Pop Stars. EVERY Metal/Hard Rock Band should be Grateful for the Collabs, because it brings new fans to the Genre. EVERY BAND wants to make money so they can continue doing what they love!
@Michael Mitchell another song for them too have lady ga ga or miles Cyrus join in with them . Metal band my ass
@James Yeah People arw laughing at you!
I listen to this everytime I'm in 100km/h, it's perfect! Love this song! Thanks Metallica!
Well done for these new guys from 20's, we're all waiting for the rest now 🤟
I'm so stoked for this album
Where has this Metallica been the last 33years? Nice work!
i feel so happy! i love this song! it's so great and im so happy to see more music dropped from you guys, you guys are an amazing band. Metallica forever 🤘
Wait til you figure out what it's about ✝️🙏
🔝
Hell yeah
One and half month passed. When will the new single come out?
Great song gents. Fan since I first heard Ride the Lightning back in the late 80’s.
👍💪
Metallica will never die! I love it....been around for so long
Hi^^ ....Sorry to say that, but Metallica...I mean the REAL Metallica is dead...they are just old businessmen today, who use their name to sell their music...just listen to the old albums and compare
This goes so hard!❤️❤️❤️🔥❤️🔥
My favorite metallica song in a long long time. Such positive lyrics!
@patrick no he wouldn't but Metallica have some cheek releasing this
@andrew davy similar a bit maybe. But I doubt lemmy would be petty enough to sue
@patrick this is a tame version of Motorhead's Overkill, they should be sued
@ehdowijdsoehcu can't wait to hear more from the album
@patrick ignore that guy youre totally right, the lyrics are amazing. They mean so much more than people realize. It's like 20yo james is back writing lyrics with all the energy in the world
I’ll give them this: at least they are staying true to their sound and not trying to fit in with the current metal scene.
I love them 4ever! That is all i can say.
Back to the roots. Strong and fast. This sound is amazing.
Great Tune! Great Video! You guys don't know the meaning of quit and we LOVE you for it!!!
