As an art history major, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see the utilization of art like this! I’m so tired of seeing Instagramable prints being used left, right, and center. Also, your mom is so talented!
The door to the entryway has just been such an iconic point of focus for this renovation for me - I can remember that first video of you in the house, standing in front of those doors and being amazed by how high the ceilings were. It's so lovely to see how far you've come with it 💕
looks insanely good - and quite inspirational. tip for the door: try inverting the stencil, so the flower arrangement is clear glass but the rest is frosted. once again, amazed how good it all looks.
I would chose the white ceramic doorknob. Great job! I painted my living room Duxbury grey years ago and I love it so much that I can't bring myself to change it. I only use Ben Moore!
I love the vintage door knobs! I have a collection of them for my "dream house." I would go for the brass/bronze with the white a close second. Everything looks absolutely beautiful! You and your lovely mom are both very talented!
Absolutely love this! I really like the oatmeal colored door knob on the closet door. It brings out the white/off white from the art and compliments the milk glass globe on the light.
This is probably the best entry way I have ever seen. I'm in love with everything 💗. The colour is amazing and your mum's painting is outstanding. Excellent choice of decor pieces as well!
I am absolutely in love with your design. It amazes me how you’re able to curate spaces with so many different little elements from 50 different places and make them look so cohesive and complementary.
I love you mother’s artwork! And that was definitely the right choice for the paint color, it looks amazing with the warmth of the original wood door frames. I vote for the white doorknob, even though I’m a sucker for brass, because of the need for the softness it brings just like the lamp
The colour choice was amazing. I don’t think any other colour would suit better. The whole thinking of putting your mom’s art in that area is brilliant. Your mom’s art work is fantastic! She should have an art gallery. People will love her art as much as I do.
Your balance of humility when learning new skills and "I can do this" attitude is just right for those of us that aren't sure how far our skills will take us. You're proving we can all do it if we want to! Our tastes couldn't be more different (I'm fully a mid-century gal) and yet I learn something new from each video. Thank you.
Macenna, I am at a loss for words! This entry way makeover is absolutely STUNNING!!! Your mom’s painting is beautiful! I’ve been with you guy’s from the beginning, & have enjoyed every step of the way of your cottage transformation. This was honestly one of my most favorite videos. You NEVER cease to amaze me. Lol. Much love & big hugs from Southeast Texas! ❤️😘
Your mom's painting was the heart of this pretty makeover. Haven't seen a painting this beautiful for a while that just perfectly complemented a space and made it a thousand times better.
It’s so perfect, I’ve always loved vintage style, you can always imagine a story in each piece. Macenna, you are doing such an amazing job in your home, can’t wait to see more of your creativity 👏🏻😍
OMG!!! This is by far my favourite makeover so far even though it's such a small space. The talent you and your mum have is insane! I love the white knob for the closet door and now I want to go buy grey/green paint and paint a wall :) Can't wait for the rest of the makeovers!
Wow. You get it from your mama! Both talented women!!!! I loved this entry way. I’m so happy you’re finally in the decorating stage. It’s been so fun to watch. 2 things- the stencil looks a bit unfinished. Maybe spray another coat on the boarder? And next, I vote for the white knob. Whatever you touch is amazing! Thanks again for taking us on this ride with you!!!!!
As a little girl I watched my grandpa make furniture in his workshop in awe. Last week watching your video I had this epiphany that I could make furniture if that's what I wanted to do. I don't just have to watch. Thank you for being so inspiring MaCenna!
Macennnnaaaa!!! You’re finally there. The decorating moments. This is truly beautiful and I hope you’re proud of yourself. You’ve inspired me so much, I’m a esthetician and for the past 7 months months I’ve been creating my facial room. And your knowledge and love and decision making on the cottage, made me slow down and be picky on what I choose for the room. So much love in my room too 🤎 thank you ! I’m only 23 and have so much love for designing now because if you ! Love you 🤎🤎
Beautiful MaCenna! Love your mom’s painting, what a priceless memory to hold close forever. That wall is stunning and yes, I’d go with the white door knob! I’m loving these transformations!!
I was eyeing my gallery wall as I was watching this and going ok I'm going to change this.. do that.. 😁 Such inspiration! Also, definitely white knob, ties in well with the lamp!
It looks beautiful MaCenna! Love the moody colours. Edit: Oh and the art is just wonderful, such a good choice to do a gallery wall. The painting from your mom looks simply stunning. Love it!
The entryway looks amazing!! Absolute perfection! As for trying to match the old trim to the new trim, if you feel you have the color down (or close enough) then I would try different top coats. Many of these old stains were shellacked or lacquered and the lacquer was yellow tinted. You might try adding a tint to a lacquer like a couple drops of black or yellow tint. Just enough to "layer" the color so it adds richness and shine at the same time. Ultimately the "aged" look you're going for is just the aging of the lacquer. Same with paintings... If you watch Baumgartner Restorations he talks about how paintings don't have a "patina". They just have top coats that yellowed over time. The same thing happens to old stain. Hope you are able to achieve the look you want!
Great advice. This era of house 1900-1930 typically had shellacked southern pine in the US. Yellow, orange or amber shellac has a lot of depth. Just takes a bit of time to get used to the application process. I'd still use a conditioner just like she's doing. I shellac all my woodwork outside on a flat surface after it has been cut and checked for fit. Then installed after curing. It's not always possible but definitely easier.
🌺 I loved the first paint sample. The one on top that you said it was really blue. My Favorite Color is blue, that’s probably why I chose it. They are all very beautiful colors.
Absolutely stunning!! I have had my entryway half done since March and this is exactly what I was going for! I am so inspired to finish it! I would say go for the white knob Also your mom is crazy talented! I love her works!
SO insanely beautiful!!! absolutely loved watching this area come to life 😍 a thought on the frosted glass in the closet door - what if you did the stencil portion clear & the rest of the glass frosted? like the original!
19 months in the making!! Your entryway is stunning. When walking in from a hot Texas day, I'm sure this area will have a cooling effect on your guests. Your dear mama's oil painting is gorgeous. I love it when we get to see your long awaited vision coming to fruition. 💚
This is beautiful, just stunning! I just love how you are styling and renovating just how you want and not rushing the processes. It’s so fun to watch it all.
You are basically a contractor at this point! I was watching this video on the couch and my husband overheard that you were building your own window casing for over the door and he was floored! You are the epitome of self taught girl boss!
Oh wow MaCenna, this is my favorite so far. That color with your moms beautiful painting is so stunning. I love the door too. I am so impressed at all of your woodworking skills. Simply amazing. Your mom is so talented too!
I have to remind myself that you are a young designer, because you have a vision of an old soul. You're ability to bring vintage design to life is magical! 💥🪄☺️
Such a fantastic wallcolour. Love the oilpainting that your mother did. Amazing🥰💫 Ipersonally love the sort of glass thats on the frontdoor. In sweden i think its called ornament glas. Also love mercury glas. Either one would look good in the closetdoor. The white doorknob 🤍
I love the entry way...from the color, to your mom's beautiful artwork and the accent of the glass on the door....Beautiful....Gorgeous! Talk about pretty progress😊😍
I've been a fan of yours for awhile & usually don't comment. I've watched you grow so much over the last couple yrs. THIS house is becoming a BEAUTIFUL home for you,Romeo & your sweet baby dog. Thank you for taking us along this AMAZING ride. 💜💜
This is soooooo beautiful!!! I get so excited for every makeover and the fact you thrifted almost everything in your home makes it more special. Absolutely amazing!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The combination of the wall color to the pictures(gorgeous painting from your mom), to the lights. WHAT A STATEMENT!!!
I absolutely love this area. The wall color is perfection. Cathy’s artwork is beautiful. Your vision for this space came together wonderfully. I’m in awe. I vote for the white doorknob. 🥰
It looks beautiful. You have done a fantastic job. Mom's picture was perfect for your entry way. She does gorgeous work. Can you tell me the name of the oil you used, to give the door a nice shine? Thanks!
It’s lovely! I love absolutely everything. Your Mom is an incredibly gifted artist, and you should be an interior designer. One thing concerned me though. Did you test the paint for lead before you sanded the trim?
Wow, love this transformation! Thumbs up for the white door knob :) Not a big fan though of the white stenciled thing. I would prefer flutet glass for the closet door, it would look more sophisticated and you can’t see through it as much.
Same. All the other parts of the make over have an extreme atention to detail, but the glass looks tooo much like a diy, in the top part you can see the marks ot the spray
wow this entry way is so gorgeous! goals to the max, I'd love more tutorials on how to find inspo and create a space on your own so I can try to make my house as beautiful as yours!
MaCennaaaaaa!! I had no idea that the surprise makeover was the entryway but Woah it's so gorgeous! I totally relate to needing to tackle a smaller project to continue your momentum. You did so good :)
Oh my goodness, all so beautiful! I love the frosted glass design you put on the closet door. Sometimes you have to mix stain colors together to get a match for old stain.
Loved this makeover!! That colour is perfection ❤ I love dark & moody too, we painted our cottage snug dark and not adds so much cosiness! Going to attempt a gallery wall in there soon, so this has inspired me. @cosythatchedcottage
I love how that gray wall really makes your art wall pop. When I look outside on a cloudy day, nothing makes the gold hills look more brilliant than having the dark, moody sky behind them, and so this makes so much sense to make the colors of your frames and art really stand out, too.
Wow nice color great art work made by your mom 😍 everything is coming so well together the moody vibe you wanted to give you really achieved it. and for the door knob I would choose the white one ❤️
I’m in love with the asymmetry of the gallery wall. I find my brain lovessss asymmetry but has a hard time creating asymmetry by myself. Thank you for the inspo!
Macenna I already texted got but this is FREAKING GORGEOUS!! The color choice, art work, videography…. ALL OF IT! All the original wood as well 😍
Agreed she is such a great designer! ❤
Lighter door knob. LUV the feature wall.
I love how much y'all route for each other 😍
Can’t wait to see your casa as well Drew!!! You guys are my absolute favorites!🪶⚜️
@XO, MaCenna pls tell me your not leaving the doors bright orange and your gonna stain them a different colour...
MaCenna has transcended "DIY" into being a self taught full on carpenter
Omg seriously. She is hella - impressive!
Right? Remember the "I don't know how to use power tools" years? I love watching the growth!!!
Truth 👐
As an art history major, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see the utilization of art like this! I’m so tired of seeing Instagramable prints being used left, right, and center. Also, your mom is so talented!
@Sylvie Barker just buy her prints or if you are lucky enough to be the first in line you could get an original.
Does she have a link to her art I would love to purchase some prints
Too bad we don’t all have an amazing artist as a mom who can paint pieces for us like this 😭😩.
Amen. I love the grand art of our history with the incredible frames
I love the contrast between the “orangey” warm trim with the green gray walls. It goes so well together in my opinion
Love the color choice 😍

Always have loved those doors, loving this vlog!!
Same!!!!! I loved it so much!!! Thank youuu
My heart skipped a beat when Romeo said he said it’s “looking really nice” and your reaction was “you really think so?” 🥹
Love y’all’s love 😭💕💕💕
The painting that your mom did is stunning!! the whole project is perfect!

Tell your mom to make a KZclip so we can all learn to paint like her! Her art is beautiful as always
Also, 100% the white doorknob
I love the vintage door knobs! I have a collection of them for my "dream house." I would go for the brass/bronze with the white a close second. Everything looks absolutely beautiful! You and your lovely mom are both very talented!

My Grandmother had glass door knobs that looked like diamonds...to me as a kid. You are doing a great job on restoring this old beauty of a house.

thank youuuuuu so much!!!! life saver im going to try that
Makes sense
I mentioned this on her last video. The poly or liquor is definitely yellow and she hasn't taken that into consideration yet.
@Q R I had patina and it didn't look right for some reason so I switched it. Should have gone with my first Instinct.

LOVE the paint color you chose! It was definitely the one for that space🤩 I'm obsessed with your momma's art 🎨 😍

It's official, I will never be able to pick a favourite room in this house. Everything you've done so far is just gorgeous. I'm obsessed!
Amazing, just amazing! I love the color you've chosen for the walls, and the art and the frames are amazing!
Wow, this space turned out great! Not really into the frosted glass situation, but I'm sure you will make it work at some point.
Looks amazing. I love att the work you have put into this house, I really like option 3 for the door knob, it looks really nice 👌.
Love watching each space come to life with your amazing eye for decor!
Your talent is amazing! Love the hallway - your Mom's painting is gorgeous and the wall color compliments it so well.

Love the decorations in entry way. I especially love that gorgeous entry way table.
I absolutely love this area. The wall color is perfection. Cathy’s artwork is beautiful. Your vision for this space came together wonderfully. I’m in awe. I vote for the white doorknob. 🥰

Living for those moody library vibes! Hope I have a home one day with space to recreate this look.
Absolutely gorgeous! Love that color on the wall! And your mom is such an amazing artist!!!
Beautiful, gorgeous, STUNNING 😍 I love every little bit of it, and your Mom painting is SOMETHING else! Great work 👏🏻
Love it…. Perfect…Your mum is so talented she’s awesome 🌟💜🍒
Omg! I absolutely love it! The color is perfect and the gallery wall is amazing!
I don't dislike it but when you said fluted, my eyes lit up lol. That would be so beautiful.
Yes, fluted glass (maybe colored) or stained glass would fit the space better. The white is too stark.
P
Same. All the other parts of the make over have an extreme atention to detail, but the glass looks tooo much like a diy, in the top part you can see the marks ot the spray
wow this entry way is so gorgeous! goals to the max, I'd love more tutorials on how to find inspo and create a space on your own so I can try to make my house as beautiful as yours!
this is so beautiful!!!! the exact vibe i'm going for in my office! thanks for sharing!
Omg Macenna this looks wonderful! I started crying once you showed the before and after! Definitely one of my favorite areas in the house so far!
Brass knob gets my vote. Absolutely stunning area - but then I expect nothing less. Your mums art makes it so perfect 🥰
Wow, to have your vision for a space! Everything is just gorgeous, thanks for taking all of us on this journey!!
Loved this makeover!! That colour is perfection ❤ I love dark & moody too, we painted our cottage snug dark and not adds so much cosiness! Going to attempt a gallery wall in there soon, so this has inspired me. @cosythatchedcottage
You did an amazing job. I love the arts. Your mom did such a great job on painting
I love how that gray wall really makes your art wall pop. When I look outside on a cloudy day, nothing makes the gold hills look more brilliant than having the dark, moody sky behind them, and so this makes so much sense to make the colors of your frames and art really stand out, too.
Always so in awe of the skill you have acquired ! Congratulations on an amazing space 😃

Hands down my favorite space you’ve done to date! It’s pure magic!!!
Wow nice color great art work made by your mom 😍 everything is coming so well together the moody vibe you wanted to give you really achieved it.

i would’ve picked that paint color too!! perfect complement to the rich wood there. can’t wait to watch you transform the rest of your spaces ♥️
Absolutely stunning! 😍
You did such an incredible job with the glass too! So beautiful!
I like the gold door knob! 😍 Loving this series!
Look at you McKenna. You go girl. I love the color you picked.🤩 Your mom is so talented. I love her painting.
I’m in love with the asymmetry of the gallery wall. I find my brain lovessss asymmetry but has a hard time creating asymmetry by myself. Thank you for the inspo!
This is so stunning it brought tears to my eyes! You have such a gift and are constantly so inspiring to me!
