Always wear tennis shoes when installing a metal roof to stop slippage AND scratching the new metal roof panels. Really PROUD of ALL of you on your new addition and the roofing. FANTASTIC!!! God is blessing YOU ALL!!!

For length cuts on metal, I’ve always just scored it and snapped it like drywall. Using the edge of a deck or porch helps.

Sometimes a 'c-clamp' clamped onto the edge of a sheet of plywood or OSB, makes a pretty good handle for moving it around in difficult situations.

I made a mistake with rain today, a bit of light drizzle when I set off with the dog. The further I went, the harder it fell, and continued all the way home again. I dripped into the house and the rain edged off and stopped. Thankfully, your day went far better and the roof was done and dusted. I know you are not beginners but, you lack most of the professional teams specials aids, yet you really knocked that one out in short order. Great job.

When you need to rip the steel sheets long ways, you can score it and snap it. No saw needed. Even the heavy 100 year steel.

One thing you can do with the metal to cut it is to just use a new blade in a box cutter it scores a good line and you can snap the piece like Sheetrock

Hello great video, just a little info. for the future, when you have to cut steel straight line like that use a utility knife scar it a couple times
turn it over bend it it'll snap right on the line, no noise. have done it for many years that way

Marty... I know Jules is a very capable builder and helper but could you two (and Seth) tether up when scaling the rafters and other heights? 🙂 I recently lost my wife this summer with her 15 year battle with cancer and so I get nervous seeing Jules up there on those rafters knowing now that you never know when your last breath might happen. I know you know where you are going when we leave this Earth, but just sayin... ;-)

I think you not only need roofing on, but all siding up and windows/doors in to be considered 'dried in'. You still have way too many ways for water to get into your living area, particularly horizontal rains or even 30 degree angle rains. Also wondering if you used the special grommeted steel roofing screws since you showed none of the roofing install close up.
