My wife and I did very well in the amount of money that we amassed for retirement. Well over 80% of that money averaging about $2 million was made because of taking advantage of buying high-end stocks at a deep discount during the Great Recession. 2009 I fired the stockbroker got rid of all mutual funds and bought individual dividend stocks. Be patient don't get scared and do your homework and you can make a killing.

@Charlotte Riley we dont see volume as clearly as institutions but that doesn't mean trading is gambling. You can learn just by reading stuff on the internet or books and that's more than enough to gain a competitive edge over the gamblers. That's all you need to scale, a small edge. The catch is that it's as hard as any other profession, you need to practice and develop a feel for it for years.

@Matt Herzberg You don't have access to things that are said in board rooms and after hours bar conversations, parties and sailing trips (etc.). The stats and data point are ancient history less than a second after they are generated. But they do good job in making people believe that they actually matter, as your comment suggests.

@Matt Herzberg Based on the "replies" between "Charlotte", "Kayla", and "Cloudy", my guess is this is a clever ad disguised as conversational comments. They're probably just bots... not even real people. It's a tactic some "businesses" are using these days. The only thing missing here is the WhatsApp phone number. 🙄

A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. This is not financial advise but get buying, cash isn’t king at all in this time!

@alex young On the contrary, even if you’re not skilled, it is still possible to hire one. I am a project manager and my personal portfolio of approximately $750k took a big hit in April due to the crash. I quickly got in touch with a financial-planner that devised a defensive strategy to protect and profit from my portfolio this red season. I’ve made over $150k since then.

I recently made additional purchases. Putting money aside in anticipation of a market disaster is also a bad idea. Life is a risk, and taking risks is preferable to doing nothing; we cannot always expect to make enormous profits; and there are numerous perspectives on recessions and depressions. The bottom line is that by diversifying your portfolio, you will achieve exceptional results by making wise investments. My portfolio has grown by $$$ in raw earnings in just 5 months.

Cash is trash. If you want your money to be safe i-bonds or treasury inflation-protected securities and blue chip bonds. If you want your money active, pay attention to the market and diversify your portfolio. An index fund automatically diversifies and requires little due diligence, you are just betting on the market in general but this is more dependent on the cycles of the market but over time will pay about 10% a year.

Inflation hits people a lot harder than a crashing stock or housing market as it directly affects people's cost of living that people immediately feel the impact of. It's not surprising negative market sentiment is so high now. We really need help to survive in this Economy. The fin-Market;s have underperformed the U.S. economy as fear of inflation hammers the prices of stock;s and bonds. My portfoliio of $250k is down to $192k any recommendation;s to scale up my return;s during this crash will be highly appreciated.

i'm investing short-term into leveraged etfs that are inverse of the s+p 500. there are ones that move opposite at a 1:1 ratio and so on. I invest into multiple to both hedge my long-term s+p 500 investment as well as adding risk by investing into the larger ratio ones. not that this is financial advice but just to give you ideas that there is ways to profit on any sort of economic climate :)

Millions of families are struggling financially as living expenses hit highest levels in more than four decades.over 60% of our country lives paycheck to paycheck and about 40% earns poverty wages. Even after working their lives, more than a quarter of old people have no savings and many believe they will never be retired in dignity, while around 55% of elderly people to survive on an income less than $25,000 a year .

If you don't know what to invest in, invest in gold. Its not a good investment but the perfect store of wealth. What I mean is, it'll keep up inflation so your savings in hard cash won't decrease in value as the money printing continues.
However right now its too late as most of the money printing is done.
A lot of people are saying art has appreciated more than anything and everything despite current economic conditions. It does SEEM like a good investment.
However, due to the rapid marketing of art as a commodity, not everything booms forever, so be wary. Also, don't invest in middleman companies like Masterworks where you buy shares of art. You are basically paying a company who is not regulated like banks, for art you will never physically see or own and hang on your wall. Chances are, like the FTX crypto situation, that'll happen.
Otherwise it is good old stocks. Don't go for bonds. They may seem attractive, however it is the ultimate scam. In the long periods where you think you earn interest, the value of the money you get will have been more worthless because of the inflationary money printing governments do.

Yes BSET, the idea of a portfolio-coach used to sound generic, but new study by investopedia actually found that demand for portfolio-coaches sky-rocketed by over 41.8% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounter, I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch, I've raised over $7ook from an initially stagnant reserve of $300K in barely 2 years.

@Willz so how would you suggest kids acqcuire/develop these critical thinking skills?

    • Willz
      Willz 2 ай бұрын

@Mad Willi that would be my next point, critical thinking is logic or at the very least, we should use logical thinking to weighs the pros and cons. This is what math brings, it brings logics and simple equations so one can understand when things are balanced or unbalanced.
But most kids just don't want to put in that kind of effort, right now the excuse is: "it's not taught in school", even if it were they'd find it boring and they'll find another excuse.
But basic math helps to develop one's critical thinking...

    • Mad Willi
      Mad Willi 2 ай бұрын

@Willz where would a kid to learn how to think critically if not in school? I would think school is the perfect place to teach someone to think critically about the decision of taking out a student loan. Not science but you still have to analyze the pros and cons along with other factors to make the decision.

    • Willz
      Willz 2 ай бұрын

@Mad Willi problem is, school would give a list of risk, what people need is to think critically, there's many risks to loan.
But at the end of the day the biggest risk is they can't repay it. Really not a whole lot of science here...

One simple decision made my financial life secure especially provident since my wife had MS. When the prices of these stocks goes down, it is simply a drought that ultimately recovers...again with time. It is a long term investment vehicle. I buy parcels of $1K at a time; and the good news about index trackers is that they rebalance to include the ASX200 or similar. I like the franking credits on the dividends. Even better, my shares do not send me bills every quarter, or pain the arse tenants like real estate does. The only paper asset I like. It will be interesting to see if people do divert away from stocks to cash and bonds when interest rates go up some more. Problem is that those latter vehicles will not beat inflation, although there is nothing wrong with having a bit of cash in the bank either.

@stockRage Dividends are what got me into investing in Intel stocks. The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. I bought a lot of Intel before, I'm buying more now, and I will buy more when it drops further.

I usually find anything to do with economics intolerably boring and don’t normally like simplistic illustrations, but on this occasion I found them very helpful (because I’m a simpleton) and the narration is very clear 👍
    PS. What is Stagflation?

    • Azain Jaffer
Azain Jaffer 6 ай бұрын +1

Stagflation is a scenario where there is inflation (usually due to supply side shocks i.e disrupted/decreased supply of goods) but there is also falling economic productivity or even contraction (negative growth). It’s a tricky situation because in a recession a central bank can simply lower rates or the government can simply increase spending (to create jobs/welfare programs) but it will also increase inflation. Since in stagflation, inflation is already high those options aren’t on the table anymore. Why stagflations happen and how best to tackle them is still very much an open question. Many people fear we may be heading into a similar scenario soon (however I don’t see it, unemployment in the US is low, there are supply side shocks and hot demand in a very credit friendly environment which is becoming hawkish)

the credit obsession in America is a result of a selling of an ideal that you have to borrow to become better in the market and thus this reinstills the notion of a class. a credit giving class and a debt ridden class. it is basically a feudal system in the guise of financial modelling.

By this logic, Ray Dalio is more productive, works harder, and is more inventive than anyone watching this video. This is a well-produced video that focuses on the "front-end" of global capitalism, but hides the "back-end"--which is that the economic machine is not an impartial, unavoidable storm which the hard-working and resilient can weather. It is instead a fragile system fueled by the production of the majority of normal humans which funnels its "rewards", not to the hardworking, but to the already wealthy. TLDR: If you aren't an investor or stockholder (jobs which produce nothing of value in the world), this system is not working for you.

This video is a true masterpiece, along with Mike Maloney's Hidden Secrets Of Money. I've tried sharing this with people who could really benefit from understanding, but none of them bothered to watch. In the end, I came to the conclusion that when a person is ready to learn they will search on their own. Even when people ask for advice they rarely follow it. Their journey usually begins alone after making the decision in that silence. My only concern is that as time goes by this information will become increasingly difficult to find.

Ray Dalio, the first time I was able to understand the most complex and complicated subject - The economy and its effect on our lives. Hats off to you for presenting such a nice way and such a simple manner to understand very clearly. After understanding the fundamentals, request you to provide the phase where we stand as of now. And what parameters will indicate the current status of the phase?

Tesla stocks did so well in 2020 and early 2021 but you cannot say same today, Tesla stock is volatile and has suffered several corrections along the way to its current high valuation. And if the stock reacts as it did during the 2020 stock split, waiting may not be the best decision for investors.

@Cloudy Blaze Tesla is a good stock, knowing when to buy is the best part. If you are not conversant with the markets, I'd advise you to get some kind of advise or assistance from a financial/investing coach. It might sound basic or generic, but getting in touch with a financial adviser was how I was able to outperform the market and raise a profit of $270,000 since Jan. For me, its the most ideal way to jump into the tesla market these days.

The Market has been pretty bad until today it decided to surge. As the economic crisis keep rising, one needs to have different streams of income, It keeps dipping. That's what you get when you feel you can navigate the process on your own. Big thanks to Mr. Ray Dalio. I'm not bothered with how bad the Market is because my assets are insured due to his advice and I still receive my profits.

Exactly. The newly printed money is loaned out to the government, instantly becoming government debt, which the government then has to pass on, and is converted into private debt. And regular Bank lending (the non central banks) is ALL private debt as well. So there is always more debt than money in the system by design. So debt is “real” but money is fiat, printed and “faked” as a way of keeping the debt machine going and growing in the interest of those few whom that debt is owed to.

    • Matthew
      Matthew 9 ай бұрын +1

Injecting that newly created money into the Stock Market also helps the central bankers “legitimise” their wealth and profits while everyone else suffers the effects of inflation from the newly printed money in the hands of the few. We are all forced into the stock market to avoid inflation, which only inflates the early stockholders earnings even further. It was always a Ponzi Scheme to begin with. We’ve only ever had royal families: (who are the manipulators and victors of the tribal system) and central bankers : (who are manipulators and victors of the monetary system.)

@Di Fox what about pharmaceutical companies ? Ford? Microprocessors? Ics? I think these things had a lot to do with j&j , venture capital , AT &T . Internet ? It was a govt initiative ofc but no govt does great business my friend! Like if apple was ran by President of USA instead of Steve jobs i don't we would have Macs and iphones . I think visionaries in a capitalistic country fuels growth. You don't have to agree with me but let's check the facts!
Microsoft , apple , Facebook, Google, johnson and Johnson, Netflix ,Tesla , spacex
These all are some very world renowned privately held firms who i think employee millions of people and due to them there are plenty of other sectors where jobs have been created for example due to Amazon employments in web services industry, logistics , delivery and many more .
So they all have a huge impact don't they?
On the other hand people like us have these awesome tools and quality of life!
You can buy a PS4 , watch tv imported fr japan!
Govt wouldn't even know how to successfully run all of them altogether! It's the competition and capitalistic laws that helped with all this .
Look at LINUx , it was an open source project! See how it changed everything.
Dod did pioneer the internet industry or you could even find traces of govt hands under the pc industry but all of this wouldn't be possible if was left under govt!
Nasa bailed out spaceX for 1 reason only!
      1) NASA needs cheap rockets!! Musk and his team figured out how! They did the work , nasa wouldn't have to start from scratch and that Billion dollar deal is paying them well! In long term govt never takes losses so don't think it was a charity , how can u think like that !
Fed didn't rescue leeman brothers ! Let me ask WHY? If you have done your homework you'll probably know why! Govt never takes losses my friend
