@M Soccer is for girls in America only. It’s ballet with a ball. There is no contact. Americans will never adopt that sport. The greatest sport on earth is hockey. It’s a man’s game that is not only the hardest game to play, but you have to be incredibly tough yourself to stand out. I was there the day my nephew asked if he could play soccer. My bro in law responded there will never be a foot fairy in my house. A phrase I taught him when we first met 15 years prior. My nephew is now starting quarterback on scholarship at a major prep school. We’re built different.

I played my college ball at The University of South Carolina. I fondly remember those after practice team huddles when coach Jim Carlen would announce one of my teammates would be rewarded with a scholarship and the response from the other teammates was exactly the same as in this video. It only happened a few times but It was one of the highlights of every season.

I forget how good these guys are until seeing it all in context. With that being said, seeing walk-ons is a reminder of how difficult it is to get on a college roster - let alone with a reputable team. To see Eli in retirement go in there and look like a pro among the college players shows the level he plays at. I gained a whole lot more respect for Eli after this. Last, his humor and personality shined through in spades. Now I see how he was a leader capable of Super Bowl rings. I never necessarily doubted him, but now it's clear. The coaches who thought he was a walk-on had to have been disappointed to see it was fake. They thought they had a walk-on starter! Haha...

It’s amazing how the beginning of his career people worried about his desire to play and his attitude. By the time he retired coaches are telling their qbs “you need to not care about the last play like Eli”.

For real though, even a 41 year old who hasn’t played ball in several years clearly stands out from the crowd. Sometimes people forget how good these guys have to be to play pro ball.

People here have no perspective. If you are an average starting QB, you will be an elite college qb if you walked onto a college team. There are 32 starting qbs each year and hundreds of college qbs.
A college would start even the worst starting qb in the league

@Jesus Saves! Why are we to have faith in these fantastic stories when the only perpetuator of such are misguided humans? If you were never brainwashed by your parent(s) or other influential figure(s), you would have zero inkling of the existence of any deities or the legends attached. If you had been born on a remote island, where Jesus' or Allah's or whatever's name had never been muttered, would you somehow have ascertained this information yourself? If you died on this island, would you be welcomed into the afterlife even though you never read the Quran or Bible or prayed? Or is religion just an ancient human coping method to tangle with our purposeless existence?

@M They have been saying that for years about soccer in the USA. Too many sports to compete with. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL. Even wrestling, boxing, MMA, is more popular in the USA than soccer. I love soccer, it will gain more popularity but never surpass the top 3 sports in the USA. It's just the way it is.

Soccer is the greatest sport on Earth with over 4 Billion fans and massively popular in over 250 nations including dependencies. Basketball only has 825 million fans and massive in less than 30 countries. Soccer is more popular than basketball in over 230 nations including India. Baseball is only popular in less than 15 countries while American football is only big in the USA. Soccer will be the number 1 sport in the USA by 2050 and more than 300 million Americans will convert to soccer fnbfvfk
