Pash Island, "Pash" for Easter. Pash, also pronounced "Pasca" which means "Lamb". "Lamb of God who is slain for the sins of the world". Easter ; the death burial and resurrection of Christ ☦️
I found this very moving. I have wept twice at the ending.
Napoleon is a figure that too many view in a positive light.
ya fight the Ottoman Empire and think they will not come for you - very biased fiction Don't forget the writer was a bigot preist (Reverend Ólafur Egilsson)
If course there will be bias. This channel is about reading from contemporary sources to build and tell a story.
dude your channel is amazing! I love history and your narration is great! keep em coming please. makes my 10hour work shift so much more bearable. (I'm American) lol
Well that was boring
Arabs were the original people that enslaved people. Still are!
This is purely racist! Everyone knows that white people are the only ones who had slaves!
I cringed when he recalls that the Turkish King picked his 11 year old son first at the slave auction 😖. I also remember that when my daughter took her cosmetology credits online there was a section about the history of hair and there was a section that revealed that the Romans would take slaves from Northern Europe with blond hair and Roman women would cut the blonde hair off the slaves and braid it into their own hair to make themselves more attractive.
Fascinating that the early documents recorded 24 Persians (wise men) as following the star indicating Jesus' birth.
anyone hearing this has to be impressed at the level of knowledge and articulation. this writer sounds like any contemporary critic in the reasoning used. the writer, from 2000 years ago, is on par with modern man in intellect and only by lack of scientific discoveries does he fall short. man back then was just as smart as man is now. this was a real eye opener for me.
Embrace the glory and might of Rome.
But I thought the crusades were evil.
Stop Slavery, then. It’s still legal in the 🇺🇸 and it’s sordid to know that we do it to ourselves all over again.
?
Incredible. You are a great narrator
12:05 Was that long live free Ukraine or nah?
BC and A.D. stand for before Christ and after death so why wouldn’t it be zero
I’ll take, things they’ll never teach us in the American school system for a thousand, Alex.
How many drugs do you think he may have been using.
Doggerland. Yes…
The title wasn’t lying when it said “horrors” 😞 Thank God the man and his family reunited at the end. And as a fellow Christian I’m happy they kept the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Only him and his wife returned. None of his children.
Doggerland perhaps? 🙃
The addition of English complicity is a modern twist (BS).
The city was called Mexico when they arrived? Don't think so.
Are we expecting them to apologise soon for the past?
A lot of these predictions include horses and them going extinct. I’m beginning to think that the person who made this really doesn’t like horses.
Well the first line completely explains modern american christians.
White supremacy is not found in the holy scriptures. It is based largely on darwinian materialism, and pre christian religion. Japanese cruelty towards chinese was also based on darwinism as imoported by german militarism.
The danish navy the one of the biggest this time, took time to time a raid to Mediterranean Sea and for hunting down some of these pirates and also bombarded the slave market
Goes to show that slavery went on amongst many different nationalities etc
Never Forget the White slaves who no one ever talks about.
This is not directed at any particular person, but I am really irritated at this point. I don't have a problem with this video. It's the attempt to use it as an alternative right marketing tool that's pushing me off. I've been reading the discussions, back and forth about African cattle slavery and the enslavement of Europeans, and indentured servitude, Etc. So this is directed to non-black peoples who need to make all sorts of excuses and deflections about African chattel slavery. You need to start doing the work. We all come into this world dealt a certain hand. Your hand, or issue, as a non-black person particularly if you are European or American, and commonly perceived as white, is to come to terms with your history in relation to slavery. It is not an easy task. The flip side of that, what black and other people of color deal with around that history, is different, complementary, and also difficult. There's guilt on our side too. However at this point in history in the United States, I am tired of being a symbol of other people garbage. Do the difficult internal work of dealing with your shame around being white, sexual, a historical conquerer, and perceiving yourself as having "no culture." That is your work as a human being. So every time you verbally or silently "Yeah, but" or bring the conversation around to European slavery vs. Indenture as a way of saying "me too," you're not doing your own race related work. When you blame black or immigrant people for making America not great, I say look in the mirror. Do your work. If POC issues are "the problem" maybe it's time you looked at your fears, your spiritual crises, your sense of entitlement. It seems that people for example who use the term" the war of Northern Aggression" are only upset because what has been happening to 90 percent of people on the planet is now happening to them. Also start actually READING. If you get your world view from 5 political commentators, you know very little.
@A. R. No, I understand that. And trust me, I am open to other ideas but this goes over that, by a lot. I usually say to people in the comments "I disagree" when it is a comment which I disagree with but which has a point, that is not the case here
@Tomas Smith You not agreeing with me doesn't make me ignorant. You are free to disagree though... : )
@typewriter Yes in an ideal world we would all be independent actors where there are no connection to the past, and our lives are determined solely by our own actions, good or bad. Do you think you live in that world? You might, or your experiences might lead you to legitimately believe that. However, I walk around in a body that has some italics *meaning* to everyone who sees me. I am never just some person. The closest example not of mine, but connected is this. When I was in school, I was introduced to the first person I'd ever met from China. We greeted each other, etc. Then I paused, and the FIRST THING that popped into my mind. "Is Chinese food the same over there as it is here?" She got angry and replied " Why does everyone ask me that?!" Good question. Well, Chinese food in the U.S. was my only contact with Chinese culture or people at the time. It seemed like a perfectly reasonable question to ME. Only after her upset did I realize how narrow and limited was my familiarity with her culture. What had I been seeing, hearing, and NOT seeing and hearing that would make multiple people, of different ethnic backgrounds all American ask her that? In the case of someone black, like me, we both know that what has been said outside of my presence will not be asked to my face. The ideas and questions are still operating on multiple levels though. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify my thoughts on this. Have a great day.
who asked
It runs deep
pretty sure the dog headed men was the craze of the day back then like an equivalent to modern stories of bigfoot or vampire encounters
Why do we call it the ottoman empire when we would call them Muslims today? To confuse us about our enemies?
I just came off of 1557 cannibal and the dogmen...right to the great war...1911 gas attacks...
fixk everyone.
amen , Christ King every Knee shall bow
Thank you for this testimonial. So sadly horrifying.
I hate to break it to you, but Troy isn't a myth or a legend. I can't believe that I have to tell a historian this.
Whatever happens we are the Lord’s. Hold fast to your faith in Christ.
This is fantastic - I love learning NZ History online.
