Fine things are an acquired taste, and often need an introduction. That’s what the curriculum does. Our generation grew up without being introduced, so they come across as boring, like a $1,000 bottle of wine to a tramp looking for beer. But the riches and flavor and interest make such a wine pale in comparison. Wes Callihan introduces people to these books, explaining their value, showing their interest, and helping develop the palette.

I respect and admire what you are doing here, but you may be mischaracterizing the Great Books efforts. For example, the Great Books of the Western World focuses the discussion through the Syntopicon, which surveys different authors (including Scripture) but deliberately does NOT come to any conclusion. Instead, the reader is encouraged to join the Great Conversation and form their own opinions, thus forming a more solid foundation to "let us reason together." I believe that Roman Roads adds more voices to that important "Conversation," though we may not always agree.

They are now venturing to make it look untrue. But it is and was their doctrine, that encouraged racism. If the Holy Book of Enoch wasn't revealed, they would still be claiming to be of the genealogy of angels. Don't let them tell you what is wrong or right, true or false,as whatever one sows is what they reap. After all the lies and whitewashing for the domination of white skin supremacy,l wonder if someone still believe these people. Let them swallow the Tongue of Azazel,of which they have unleashed from hell. No one,but they themselves swear they originated from Zeus, Kronos,Hera,Apollo,Hercules, etc. The Illiade contains all of their genealogy,of which they proudly used to claim. They never wrote the Holy Bible, though they tried to modify it in the Middle Ages,at the period of the Renaissance. They tried to modify it to serve their ungodly agendas,as the Bible was written even before the Dark Ages of human history,by Black Prophets. They can't tell you when, where or for what purpose was the Bible written. These people would have taken the Bible very serious,if it was written by them, but instead they used the holy Book to commit genocide, rapine, land-grabbing,slavery,etc.,whiles thinking they were wise, they became fools as they were doing nothing more than fulfilling the prophecies in the Book the ignorantly claimed it was written by them. SEE HOW GREAT AND WONDERFUL IS POWER AND MYSTERY OF GOD ! CAN MAN IN HIS RIGHT MIND,FIGHT AGAINST GOD ? ONLY TO JACOB WAS THIS PRIVILEGE GIVEN !

That's such non-sense. Persians never burnt anyone to death. Their respect for fire would have prevented any such savagery even if one of us was arrogant to want commit such an act. Imagine someone like Cyrus sitting and watching a man burnt alive; not in this universe. There is no instance in Persian history where they burnt anyone alive. Arabs burnt Persian rebels when Islam conquered Persia in many instances just like ISIS burnt their prisoners; but Iranians never did, and never will commit such barbarous acts.

His comments beginning at 9:58 on the “Top Shelf Book Set of Great Books” ( Mortimer Adler etc) are very revealing. Pointing out that the Dark Ages were equated with the Christian Age and suggesting what appears to be an attitude that is influenced deeply by Enlightenment thinking namely - Christianity results in Darkness! This is not dissimilar to the biased thinking of several strident atheists like Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris and others who, influenced by scientism and relativism, also equate Christianity (religion in general) with darkness.. Thanks for the observation Wes Callihan!
